How about this for a pitch? This is Gartfairn Farm on the banks of Loch Lomond, a Caravan Club Certificated Location, which is a small site accessible only to CC members. CLs are the sole reason we joined up to the club. They are small - a maximum of 5 pitches - and cheap. This one is costing us £10 for the night. Currently there's us and one caravan here, enjoying this stunning view. We're just 1 mile from Balmaha and the fantastic Oak Tree Inn, where we enjoyed hot chocolate and chips earlier on. Hopefully the cows won't wake us up too early tomorrow. It's a toss up between them and the geese on the field who will be our alarm clock. So after a quiet wee spell, where I sewed (and then ran out of fabric - Ikea here we come. Again!) and Hans had his diesel leak fixed, we finally managed to get away for a night.
A few things going on on the Hans front this week - I've been making curtains, we've joined the Caravan Club (no more Inbetweeners jokes, please. We've heard them all!) and Hans has visited the garage as he has a leak in the pipe between the filler cap and the fuel tank. It's not covered by our warranty from Ikonic Kampers but Chris has offered to cover the costs as it should have been picked up earlier. There had been a rough repair made, probably by the previous owners, but it seemed to come undone from the journey up from Lincoln. But fair play to Chris, he offered to pay for the repair so no problems there. We're still very new to this motorhoming malarkey. It honestly feels like we have suddenly acquired a large and exotic pet (like an elephant!) that we have to care for and love.
The four of us are off on our first journey in Hans today. OK, so it's only over to my parents' house, a journey of about 50 minutes but it's a start! When we were talking about first having Hans, I hoped to be away this weekend. A little ambitious, in retrospect, given the busyness of this week and the fact that we don't have any bedding. Or cooking equipment. Or even the knowledge of flushing the toilet! But that will come. We have friends who caravan, thankfully!
