With the weather continuing to be so good (a real blessing after such a wet summer), we booked at last minute stay in St Andrews for the September weekend. Tommy found us a pitch at the St Andrews Holiday Park, which is perched on the cliffs just south of the town, within easy walking distance.
The drive to Fife is never a quick one - there's lots of different routes but none of them are particularly direct! We decided to go via Stirling along the A91. We arrived to glorious afternoon sunshine and got quickly set up on our pitch. Last weekend, we took advantage of the fabulous September weather and a completely free weekend and booked ourselves into the Caravan Club's Maragowan site, which is just outside Killin.
We're currently away for the weekend in Killin in Stirlingshire. Last night, for no apparent reason, the control panel of our Truma Combi E boiler began to flash red, indicating a fault. We'd experienced a similar problem at New Year, which we'd always put down to the awful weather and the interrupted power supply we were linked to. This time, the weather is warm and dry, so we were slightly puzzled.
We solved the problem last time by replacing a ceramic fuse on the power board. We'd bought a few replacement fuse and luckily had them with us. This morning, Tommy took out his trusty toolkit (don't leave home without it) and proceeded to take the wardrobe apart to access the boiler. We've made a point so far in trying not to visit the same campsite twice. The only site we've made a repeat trip to has been Biggar Caravan Site (the weirdest campsite in the world) but that was only so we could visit Volksfling festival on the cheap!
However, when you have a site like Dunallan CL on your doorstep for only £6 a night, you're prepared to make an exception. And that's exactly what we did last night. |
