I'm still working on the blog for our tour, it's a massive task with loads of photos so you'll need to bear with me. In the meantime, here's a film Tommy made using GoPro footage of our adventures. One of the perks of our stay at Kirchzarten was the travel pass that enabled us to travel throughout the Black Forest for free. So we jumped on a train in Freiburg and headed to Basle in Switzerland for the day.
Our initial plans for visiting Bodensee (or Lake Constance, as it is also known) involved a trip to the Zeppelin museum at Friedrichshafen and an overnight stay at a local stellplatz. But the weather was just too lovely to be inside, so we continued on to Meersburg instead.
On Thursday morning, we packed up Hans, settled in the house sitters and set off for Newcastle and our ferry to the Netherlands.
After months of planning, we were finally in heading off on our European tour - 5 weeks of touring and travelling around the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and France. As you can imagine, the level of excitement in the air was high! My biggest worry was that we would be delayed on the road and be late for the ferry, but our journey was problem free and we arrived in plenty time - we were one of the first vehicles to check in. We lined up on the Tarmac and waited our turn to board. Slowly but surely, the campsites are getting booked. Our map is looking a little something like this:
Since the New Year, we have been finalising and tweaking our summer European tour plans. It's blinking hard work! There are so many variables to think about and we're finding that it's best to do our planning little and often.
