One of our main reasons for staying in the UK this summer was so we could attend Atomic Festival at Sywell Aerodrome in Northamptonshire . We love a bit of 50s style and it looked right up our street. So tickets were bought and we prepped ourselves for our first ever festival stay - no electricity, no fridge as ours didn't work on gas, and lots and lots of fun!
It was time to leave Yorkshire and head south to continue our holiday. We were heading to Northamptonshire for a festival, but first we stopped off near Nottingham at the National Water Sports Centre.
Our plan for Monday was to leave Scarborough, stock up with food at the local supermarket and then proceed onto our next site for a relaxing afternoon. After our bump at Morrisons, things didn't go quite to plan, but at least we were able to get to our next location - Flamingo Land!
We left Scarborough en route to Flamingo Land, with a quick stop at Morrisons for fuel and a food shop. Well, it was supposed to be a quick stop, but then this happened...
After leaving our site near Filey, we just had a short run up the coast to Scarborough. We did a quick shop at Lidl before we rolled up at Irton Mount Caravan Site and snagged this amazing pitch.
We were all reluctant to leave Whitby, but our next site - Haven's Primrose Valley Holiday Park near Filey - was paid for and waiting for us, so off we went. We've stayed at a few Haven sites now, some good (Haggerston Castle and Lakeland) and one that definitely wasn't (Craig Tara) but they're usually great value for tourers so we were willing to give it a go...
We've been wanting to visit Whitby for ages. It's one of the main reasons why we ended up touring this part of the UK when we decided to stay closer to home this summer. I'm very pleased to report that it didn't disappoint one little bit.
Our big summer trip is finally here! This year, we're taking advantage of this wonderful weather that we currently have in the UK and are touring the Yorkshire coast before heading further south for Atomic festival in Northamptonshire.
First stop for us was near Haltwhistle in Northumberland, at the Hadrian's Wall Caravan and Camp Site. Who can believe that this is Scotland? We're having the most amazing spell of good weather just now, so when my parents offered to take charge of the Tornado Twins for a few days, Tommy and I jumped at the chance to get away and booked a few nights at Witches Craig campsite just outside Stirling.
