After a stormy day hiding out in Hans, we packed up this morning while the sun shone and took ourselves to the Helix park in Falkirk.
The Helix was developed in recent years from a huge underused greenspace on the edge of the town, around the area of the Forth and Clyde canal. Once scrubland, it's now a wildlife and family haven, with large open grass areas, a boating pond, a cafe and visitor centre, splash fountains, a wetland and reed bed area and a rather cracking play park. There's also some excellent bike paths (good for scooters too!). But the highlight just has to be these beauties. As I write this, we are being rocked and blown about in Hans, as the weather gears up to become Storm Imogen. We're staying outside Perth at Noah's Ark Caravan Site (it's February half term). We arrived on Friday in the pouring rain and it hasn't really stopped since we got here! Our last two February getaways were glorious with blue skies and sunshine so I guess our luck has run out this time.
Thankfully, this site has an indoor play area nearby, with go karts, bowling and soft play on offer, so after getting ourselves organised on Friday afternoon, we walked over and unleashed the Tornado Twins into the soft play area. |
