If you've followed our blog for a while, you'll know that we love our VW Beetle Boris as much as we love Bodhi. They even match! Whenever we can, we take a trip to Volksfling festival down in Biggar. This year, for the late May Bank Holiday, we were supposed to be heading south to meet up with friends but work got in the way. The weather was looking fine so we booked one night at Biggar Caravan Park to cheer ourselves up and set off.
Wolfsburg is the home of Volkswagen. Our Beetle, Boris, was built here in 1971. After the VW wonder that was HO17, it made sense to continue the theme with a trip to the Autostadt.
When we were initially planning our 2017 trip, Tommy casually mentioned that there was a VW event that he wanted to see. Funnily enough, our ferry tickets and planned route all seemed to fit in with it. Isn't that strange!
It's always the way, isn't it. The schools are off for the holiday weekend, Tommy is off too... And I'm working 4 out of the 5 days. Typical. It was also Volksfling weekend. Tommy was not a happy boy!
With only 1 full day to enjoy, Tommy set about organising us with military precision. A few phone calls to Biggar Caravan Site secured us a cancelled pitch and so when I finished work on Saturday, I found Hans waiting for me in the Staff car park. This weekend is the return of Volksfling, Scotland's biggest VW festival. We took Boris, our 1971 Beetle to their Mk2 festival last August, and we were keen to return to the bigger May show.
