Thankfully today (Saturday) arrived bright and dry after yesterday's storms. We decided to take advantage of the good weather and take a trip to Lindisfarne. However, more importantly, the Tornado Twins had some serious energy to burn off before we went anywhere.
We're currently half way through a post-Christmas escape to Northumberland. We booked 4 nights at Riverside Leisure Park in Wooler as a wee treat to ourselves as we're both off work this week and it gave us an opportunity to give Hans a good run. So far, we've only ever done one night stays so it's a proper adventure.
Today we went for a wee jaunt up to Luss, which is just 8 miles up the road from us. We squeezed in a quick cycle along the river before the rain came on and we retired to Hans for a heat and some soup. The weather turned pretty awful once we were settled inside. There were tourists looking round the village and walking on the beach, we had to snigger a bit as they fought with their umbrellas and we were cosy and warm. Today we used our Historic Scotland membership and took a visit to Stirling Castle. The Tornado Twins had a ball, running off some serious steam in the grounds before we went inside and explored the palace, the great hall and the interactive displays. As you can see from the pictures below, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We can definitely recommend it for a day out, although it is expensive - we would have been £43 without our membership! |
