We're making the most of our new Camping and Caravan Club membership with a night away at their Milarrochy Bay site on the east side of Loch Lomond. Just 40 minutes and a whole world away from home. We arrived just after 12 and nabbed a prime loch side pitch. Milarrochy Bay is around 40 minutes walk from Balmaha village, so after a quick lunch we set off along the famous West Highland Way. It's a beautiful walk, especially at this time of year when the wildflowers are beginning to appear. In Balmaha, an event called Weirfest was in full swing. Tom Weir was a well known walker and broadcaster who lived in the area and there is a new statue and rest area in Balmaha in his memory. Our girls decorated their own empire biscuit , bounced on the bouncy castle and generally enjoyed themselves until we settled down for a drink at the Oak Tree Inn. After our drinks, we made our way back to Hans, making sure plenty of fun was had along the way. The girls loved having a bit of freedom exploring the beaches and shore themselves. This continued back at Hans as they played by the waterside, while we kept a sneaky eye out through the window. I'm sure you can guess where that went. Dry pants and PJs on, they were soon warm again and wolfing down a huge dinner. Currently we're all cuddled in together watching a film while I write this. This is the life! Find out more about the beautiful Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.
