This weekend, the weather forecast looked simply stunning and we knew we had to get away. Always keen to try somewhere new, we booked a night at the Caravan and Motorhome Club's Strathclyde Park site. One of the reasons that we'd never visited before is the location - right beside the M74 and M73 motorways! But when we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised at how little road noise there actually was. There was a definite background noise but it wasn't too bad at all. We were careful in picking our pitch though, staying more towards the park rather than near the roads. Please excuse my children, I have no idea what they're doing here! We managed to arrive right at midday, so after a quick lunch we were straight out to the park. Strathclyde Park boasts a large man-made lake which is a watersports hub. In February there's not much going on on the water but the path surrounding the lake was heaving with people out enjoying the winter sun. There's also Roman ruins, several play areas and loads to explore in the park. We were out for hours and walked miles. Back at the Bodhi bus, our girls managed to find more energy and spent the rest of the afternoon on their skates and playing in the site play park. As the sun went down, Tommy grabbed his camera and headed out again too. He was away for a while but I think you'll agree that it was worth the time. We all slept very well and woke up this morning feeling refreshed and ready to enjoy some more sunshine. The site wardens were very kind and allowed us to stay till 2pm instead of 12, so we took another wander into the park and enjoyed the fresh air and blue skies before heading back home again. We stopped off at Asda in Linwood to top up on diesel and LPG in advance of next weekend's trip - the Classic HymerChill! Read more about our weekend trips away.
