After a lovely couple of days at Coldingham, we moved on to the next site. On route, Tommy took us on a detour to Chain Bridge Honey Farm. Despite the appalling weather, we had a surprising good visit with loads to see - not just honey! After the honey farm we continued onto Haggerston Castle, where we were booked for 4 nights. Haggerston is a Haven site, all static caravans, evening entertainment and arcades. It isn't our usual choice but for £14 a night (Caravan Club members get a discount) it was worth a try. Included in the cost of the pitch was use of the swimming pool, some kids activities and evening entertainment so it's great value. However, as we pulled into our (muddy) allocated pitch, our worst fears were realised. There was a large dog tied up with string on one side and a large amount of noisy children on the other. It was a bit of a shock to the system after the peace and quiet of Templehall, and I won't lie and say we didn't think about leaving right there and then! But we were there and the girls were champing at bit to go swimming so we plugged in the electric and got on with it. The girls loved the pool, and threw themselves down the waterslide with great delight. The evening entertainment on offer wasn't really our style so after dinner we cooried in with a DVD and hoped the music next door didn't go on all night! After a surprisingly quiet evening (it turns out there's a curfew at 11pm) we decided to find out if we could move pitch. The mud was a big issue to us - there's no point in having a hardstanding pitch if everything still ends up covered in mud. The dog was a concern too! Thankfully the wardens were sympathetic and offered us a choice. Pitch 95 was just what we were looking for - quieter, drier and right by the playpark. After moving, we took the girls to a dancing activity in the Live Lounge, where they boogied for a bit, before we went swimming again. After lunch, we took a walk round the park, where the girls discovered a variety of playparks and a butterfly walk beside the lake. Then Tommy and I discovered the pub. Things were looking up!
