We're very fortunate to have the beautiful Loch Lomond right in our doorstep, so when we had a recent spell of good weather, we were able to take full advantage. It felt very decadent to he camping on a school night, but camping we were. Duck Bay is a lovely spot on the west side of Loch Lomond. It can get a bit rowdy at the weekend (weddings at nearby hotels, evening barbeques, jet skis...) but we were confident that a Monday would be safe enough. After doin their homework, the girls took advantage of the play park while dinner was on the go and Tommy made sure he caught the stunning sunset on camera. We were utterly spoiled by the evening sky. You don't see views like this everyday, even if you live here! The next morning, after a fairly quiet night (the A82 is very close by), we were up early to get the girls to school. Technically we were still close enough to home that they could walk, but we'd decided to be kind and had brought the car with us too. After dropping them off, I returned to Hans and Tommy headed off to work, leaving me with the awful job of babysitting Hans. It was hard work, I can tell you! Before long, everyone was back with me and we were planning to stay another night. But just as dinner finished cooking, the gas ran out. Disappointing, but expected, as we knew we were running low. So we packed up and headed home. It was only one night but it seemed like a proper holiday. Who needs Spain? Loch Lomond is simply stunning. Read more about our stays on the lochside below.
