Just a few more sleeps to go and we'll be setting sail for Barra in the Western Isles, for the start of our 16 day Hebridean adventure. It's taken a lot more preparation than either of us expected, but we're nearly there now. The Visit Outer Hebrides website has been very useful, showing us where we can find campsites, showers, toilet disposal points and more. We've booked into some conventional sites for Barra, South Uist, North Uist and Skye but for Harris and Lewis we will be staying on 'wild camping' sites - these are basically crofts that have given permission for people to stay on their land in exchange for a small fee. There's often little or no facilities except a water tap and a toilet but we're game to try it out - we have gas for the fridge and solar power to keep our phones charged for emergencies. The real fun will be exploring the beaches and watching for wildlife. We're hoping to keep the blog updated while we're away, electricity and internet dependable. Otherwise it'll be a massive job when we get home! Read more about our amazing trip to the Outer Hebrides.
